Quintrex this week officially launched two hard top versions of the Trident. Called the 650 Trident Hard Top and the 690 Trident Hard Top, the boats measure 6.69m and 7.07 metres respectively.

Hard tops are all the rage at the moment with many companies adding lids to various models across their ranges. But the Trident offerings are not just a top added to an existing boat. There is more that Quintrex has done to enhance the ‘fishability’ of these boats.

The hard top features a standard windscreen wiper for the skipper, sliding side windows for ventilation, overheard mounting for radios and six folding rod holders (launcher) across the back. There is also an optional LED lighting kit to illuminate the interior and the cockpit.

New fishing features include a live-bait tank with a viewing window and an external pickup which allows water to circulate through the tank to keep your bait fresh while underway, and an enhanced bait station. The bait station is both wider and deeper and features a cutting board, five extra rod holders (bringing the total number of rod holders to 17 abord), a storage tray and cup/lure holders.

Under the bait station is a twin battery setup neatly housed in the transom with a well-protected isolator switch. Also new are the Ocean Pro helm seats which feature sturdy grab handles for standing passengers. The seats slice fore and aft for comfort whether you’re steering standing or seated.

There are large pedestal boxes under the seats with recesses for EPIRBs and fire extinguishers.

Quintrex national Account Manager Cameron Wood said the Trident HT had been carefully designed and extensively tested to ensure the best overall package for the offshore fisherman.

“The Trident Hard Top really is one tough plate boat,” he said. “Each one is built by our expert plate-boat team and involves over 60 hours of welding.

“The checker-plate floor is fully welded and the structure of the entire boat is reinforced with a solid T keel which is triple welded to the side sheet. You can really rely on the these boats, which is what you want when you’re offshore,” Cameron added.
